New Screenshots, Behind-the-Scenes Video from Telltale’s Walking Dead Game

Nothing too dramatic or exciting going on here, but we do have three new screenshots from the forthcoming Walking Dead game from Telltale Games, the makers of the Back to the Future and Sam and Max point-and-click games.

As you can also see above, Telltale has created a new web-series called “Playing Dead,” starring AJ LoCascio, the voice of Marty McFly in the Back to the Future games. The video features the game’s designers, who explain that the first episode of the game takes place while Walking Dead protagonist Rick is still in the coma—from which he awakes in the first issue of the comic (and episode of the show).

I’m not sure, but I think that this game will also be point-and-click based. Will that gameplay mechanic work for the creeping horror that is zombies? It could work…

The game, it seems, will be made available for all current generation platforms and mobile phones this spring.

Nice! Telltale is good at making point-and-click adventures that hearken back to the golden age of adventure gaming (Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, the SCUMM engine…). For those of you unfamiliar with the genre… this will NOT be the reincarnation of Left 4 Dead. It’s more like animated, interactive fiction.
