Square Enix’s Sleeping Dogs: Light a Cook on Fire and Kick Him in the Stomach
If you’re anything like me, when you get a steak that’s medium when you ASKED FOR MEDIUM RARE, there’s only one thing you want to do: light the cook on fire and then kick him right in his goddamn stomach.
Square Enix knows how we feel, letting us live out our cook-firing-stomach-kicking fantasies not once, but twice in the trailer for their new game, Sleeping Dogs, which is about criminals or something.
OKAY, ACTUALLY none of that is true. But it is odd how prominent the “cook who is on fire getting kicked in the stomach” bit of the trailer is. Even odder is the fact that we’ve got a live-action trailer for what I’m pretty sure is a non-live-action video game. Seems strange that they wouldn’t offer some hot gameplay footage to show off “one of the most intuitive and imaginative combat systems,” as the press release announcing the game boasts:
“Sleeping Dogs empowers players to perform an extensive set of martial arts moves, singlehandedly taking on numerous opponents. Players perform bone-crunching kicks and combos, vicious counters and a cinematic set of environmental takedowns making use of countless real-world items from circular saws to phone booths, incinerators to refrigerator doors.”
Okay, that does sound pretty cool. Let’s hope it lives up to that nice description. And if you’re curious, I’m told this game was once called True Crime: Hong Kong. But now, you know–DOGS.
The game is being developed by United Front Games and Square Enix London, and should be out in the second half of this year for PS3, Xbox 360, and Windows PC.
Until then, go light someone on fire, and then kick him in the stomach. It’s the only way to truly prepare.

True Crime, now that’s an oldy…
the only thing i remeber from true crime is that i played it through two times. once just beating every “level” and a second time failing every part so i could see the other ending to the level
They did that live action trick with all of those kinect games. Remember that weird baseball guy with monsters? Basically means they don’t wunna make anything until they see the fans reaction. Maybe.
man i have been waiting for this so long yeaahh tru crime is back
