EA to Publish Insomniac’s “Outernauts” and New “Populous” Game?
The longer I do this job, the more I think I know about lots and lots of video games. But every once in a while, I hear about (or am assigned) a story for which I have no grasp of even the basics. That’s what happened today when Lawrence sent me to a NeoGAF forum that made almost no sense to me. But reading and re-reading that led me to HardGamers, a French video game site. I Google translated that, and read and re-read it, which then led me to doing some more Googling, which eventually led me to this post on RipTen.
But I think I’ve got the gist of it: Insomniac is going to be working on a new, mysterious IP called “Outernauts,” since the studio has registered for the trademark and some related domain names (among them “Outernauts-Game.com” and “Outernauts-Game.net).
EA is, apparently, partnering with Insomniac on that title, whatever it will wind up being, and seems to also be planning a new installment in the Populous game series, which Lawrence tells me was “one of the first God games,” and was also developed by Bullfrog Productions.
Why is that interesting? Because Bullfrog also developed Syndicate, and we all know that EA’s been getting some pretty positive buzz about their decision to resurrect that franchise.
So how’d I do?
