Zynga Finga’d for Copying Another Game
According to a post on GamesBeat, social and mobile game developer giant Zynga is under fire—again—for creating a game that has more than a passing resemblance to another company’s game.
Apparently Zynga’s new Bingo game, which is currently in beta, is extremely similar to BINGO Blitz from Buffalo Studios. Following the example set by Nimblebit, the makers of Tiny Tower (which was allegedly ripped off by Zynga to make Dream Heights), Buffalo Studios publicly shamed Zynga for the theft, including side-by-side comparisons of the two games’ screens.
While, sure, Bingo is a pretty universal game, it’s been pointed out on one of the many sites covering the story that Zynga’s game cribs specific game-design components from Buffalo’s, namely the keys and boxes and that get unlocked. Last time I checked a Bingo hall, there were no treasure chests or keys. Just old ladies. And that old smell.
How many more game-makers are going to start coming out of the woodwork to target Zynga, now that they’ve gone public? Probably a lot.
Here’s the full comparison. What say you?
