Call of Duty Elite DLC Maps Locked to One Xbox LIVE Profile Per System

Apparently Call of Duty Elite subscribers who downloaded the member-exclusive DLC for Xbox 360 versions of Modern Warfare 3 were shocked and saddened to discover that they can only access that content from the profile that purchased it. In short, if you’ve got more than one profile on your console—like, say, your roommate or girlfriend—those other people won’t be able to access the maps unless those users are also subscribers, and also purchased the DLC.

The problem, reported on by Joystiq, was first spotted on the MW3 forums. While us non-members might not think this whole hullaballoo too big a deal, apparently the terms on the download note that this restriction shouldn’t exist, reading, “You can use this item on the first Xbox 360 console you downloaded it to. Access to this item will also be granted to all users on this first console.

Well, yeah. That’s pretty specific.

As of this writing, Activision hasn’t offered anything on the issue, but I’m sure they’ll figure out a way to work it all out. Until then, try not to get your controllers wet while your eyes leak all that water about it.

I saw this coming from a mile away. Anyone who hasn’t realized by now that Activision wants ALL of your money and will stop at nothing until they have it.

Me and my friend who i frequently splitcreen with both have subscriptions to elite, so no probs, bro. Also who the hell has more than one gold account(besides friends cloud saves) on one xbox? That roommate or girlfriend can play with a guest profile. The only problem i see is it going against the agreement when you purchase the content.

Call Of Duty is going to be the death of Call Of Duty. Adam said it best in the lastest weekly episode, their greed is going to be their downfall, and Call Of Duty: Elite is one of the nails in the coffin.
