BlizzGone: BlizzCon for 2012 Cancelled

Diablo III is taking so much of Blizzard’s time and effort, the company’s had to put the kibosh on their annual convention. That’s right, nerds: BlizzCon 2012 is officially…ON ICE.

Apparently, Blizzard will be holding the Battle.net World Championship in Asia toward the end of this year, so that, combined with the company’s other projects in development, is keeping them from moving ahead with BlizzCon in 2012. A post on Battle.net has the explanation for why the company will be skipping the festival for the first time since 2006:

“We’re excited to be showcasing Blizzard eSports on a truly global stage this year. We’re also heavily focused on getting Diablo III, Mists of Pandaria, and Heart of the Swarm into players’ hands as soon as possible. In light of our jam-packed schedule, we’ve decided to hold the next BlizzCon in 2013.”

Since BlizzCon likely would’ve offered gamers the next previews of those games, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that there’s a good bet that we’ll actually see those releases sometime in the very near future. I mean, why else would the company not want to create more buzz about the games unless they’d actually be dropped on your heads right quick?

I’m calling it: Diablo III in early May. SURE WHY NOT

    One can only hope right? Ive had my copy of Diablo 3 pre ordered for the last 6 months, i dont care if it doesnt come out till next year (ok thats a lie, i want it now!) at least i know ill be guarranteed a copy day 1 :D

    Sometimes too much news and little delivery dilutes the Curve. Other interests take Root.
