In Development: God of War IV, FFX HD Remake

Writing news posts can be a funny thing. Sometimes, your whole story can be summed up in a simple headline: this thing is happening. Such is the case with news that certain games are in development—and such is the case with both God of War IV and the high definition remake of Final Fantasy X.

According to a post on Siliconera yesterday, development work is being done on the FFX remake for PS3 and the PlayStation Vita, which will celebrate the original PS2 game’s tenth anniversary. The news comes from the German magazine, M! Games, as does the news that the game’s original producer, Yoshinori Kitase, is working closely with the production of the remake to ensure its quality matches that of the original version.

And yet another post on Siliconera reveals that Timothy Williams, a video game music composer who has worked on DOTA2, has listed God of War IV on his resume as an upcoming project. While it’s not much of a surprise that we’d be seeing a sequel in what has been a supremely successful franchise, it’s still good to know that the work on the thing is happening and stuff. In fact, yesterday we reported a rumor about online mutliplayer for the as-yet unannounced sequel. So there’s that.

Yup. Games—they’re still being made.

BLEHH! I thought god of war was done. I love the series but I hope they don’t milk it.

Well, the FFX-HD news is kind of old, but the GOW4 is no surprise. I just wonder how they are going to continue Kratos’ story…

Yeah, the FFX thing was already announced. This was more of a, “you know that thing that was announced? it’s still happening and it’s happening right now” kind of thing. Yup.

Wasn’t it supposed to be a Vita launch title? I guess I read a bad article on Reddit.

I liked the game when I was 11, and I might pick up the HD re-release, but I’d rather not ruin childhood memories.

Seriously how is God of War 4 going to work, Kratos has already killed pretty much everybody in the world. I mean after killing his family, the olympian gods, the titans, the entire human race and himself, whos left?

Although since Kratos apparently survives at the end of the trilogy its possible that he has to deal with being the only person left in the world. Maybe the whole game will be about Kratos slowly going insane through a combination of loneliness and guilt!

There could be some human survivors, and maybe some Gods and Titans, I don’t really remember the ending of God Of War III that well.

Plus, Kratos could be immortal, so God Of War IV could take place many years after God Of War III.
