The Stickboat Cometh on February 7

Nintendo has published a whole list of their 2012 Q1 releases, including some interesting news about the much-discussed Circle Pad Pro peripheral, which Machinima has affectionately redubbed the Stickboat. As you may know, the Stickboat adds a second analog stick to the Nintendo 3DS, as well as extra shoulder buttons. When news broke about the device, we were under the impression that it’d cost about 10 bucks…turns out it’ll cost twice that, and will be a GameStop exclusive (really?) starting February 7. So far, only two games have been confirmed to take advantage of the thing, Metal Gear Solid 3D Snake Eater and Resident Evil Revelations, though if they ever get around to releasing Monster Hunter for the system in the states, you can bet that it’ll make extensive use of the device.

At twenty bones, though, the Stickboat seems kind of like a tough sell…I’ll definitely be waiting to see whether or not it makes a difference in the comfort of the system, since my hand cramps up like a bitch whenever I play.

The press release also reveals the new March 23 street date for the highly anticipated Kid Icarus: Uprising for the Nintendo 3DS, among others.
