DiRT Showdown Makes Gamers Filthy in May 2012

Do you like cars? Do you like it when cars smash into each other (in the way that doesn’t result in dismemberment or death)? Well, buddy, has Codemasters got the game for you.

As you can see in the announcement trailer above, the latest installment in Codemasters’ DiRT franchise will see cars smashing the shit out of each other. The new game will have three main modes, including racing with ramps and obstacles in “full-contact Racing events,” metal-crunching combat in Demolition Derby, and “Hoonigan events,” which will apparently let players run “wild in huge stunt parks.” Also: I don’t know what the hell a “Hoonigan” is.

Basically, this sounds like Hillbilly-Death-Mario-Kart. And it sounds pretty fucking awesome.

The game’s going to feature plenty of multiplayer options, too, like local split-screen and eight-player online racing. Sounds pretty cool…

DiRT Showdown is planned for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC and Mac in May.
