Volition Job Post Hints at Saints Row 4?
We already knew that THQ’s Volition was working on the next installment in the Saints Row franchise, but a new job posting on Volition’s website offers the teensiest, tiniest hint at what could be in store for Saints Row 4.
The posting for Senior Mission Designer is one of a slew of such posts on the website, but there are two tidbits that help this one stand out from the pack. Up at the top of the post, the listing explains what they’d like out of potential candidates, saying, “Experience with open world games is a plus.” No surprises there—open world games are huge right now, and it’s likely this is Saints Row because a) Volition lists it as one of their two major credits, Red Faction is dead, and barring a new IP, Saints Row is all that’s left; and b) the Saints Row franchise is basically all THQ’s got going for it right now, following their poor financial outlook from last week (more on that in a minute).
The other interesting bit from the posting comes in the qualifications portion, where it says that candidates should have “A broad knowledge base of console games and RPGs.” So, given our calculations above that Saints Row is THQ’s biggest and safest bet right now, especially considering how risky it is to launch new IPs, I’m going to speculate wildly: Saints Row 4 will offer RPG elements, featuring +1 dildo bats of frost and stuff. Sure—why not?
If nothing else, the job postings themselves show that something is going on at THQ, since they’re slashing jobs in other divisions. A Gamasutra post from this weekend explains that 30 employees from THQ’s Play division were laid off. This is the division of the company responsible for the uDraw Tablet, which the company has decided is the main culprit for its shortfall in profits this year.
What’s going on at THQ? The game is afoot…

Well the U-Draw Tablet is a terrible idea.
I don’t think it was a TERRIBLE idea, but maybe basing your entire hopes for year-end profits on it was not super wise. Like I said in my review, the tablet had some really interesting and actually fun applications in games–but it wasn’t anything that was going to save the company.
I honestly didn’t know about the U-Draw until I saw a review on the blog. I didn’t see a single ad for it on tv, websites, etc. That may explain its short coming.
well they already said they are making a 4th part hopefully it is more fun than saints row 3 was
@JGBryon What channels do you watch? There were ads for it every ad break for me, but maybe it was just Ireland/England.
SAINTS ROW THE THIRD IS BEAST!!!
Ok so I’ve past all of saints row the third game.. Will there be A saints row 4?
I think much wilder than the lingerie-clad nurses will be good, but most important is add more missions, more cinematic scenes and more conversation and try bring back the character from SR3 and 2 of the player’s character ” first male and second male character and all these will be AWESOME !
