Obsidian Making South Park RPG

Today, Game Informer broke the story that THQ and Obsidian (the developers behind Fallout: New Vegas) were working closely with Trey Parker and Matt Stone to put out South Park: The Game. Apparently this will be a full-fledged RPG that sees you as the new kid in town trying to “make friends and defend the town from a wide range of threats.” VAGUE.

According to the teaser on Game Informer’s site—the game is the January issue’s cover story—the show’s creators are “writing the script, performing the dialogue, and overseeing the development” of the title, so if you like what they do, you should like this. The game is set to come out sometime in 2012 for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 AND PC  (no Wii release? That’s odd…), but there’s no word yet on whether this will be a retail release or a downloadable title.

I dunno. Tie-in games…eh, they’re always tough. It’s nice that Parker and Stone—who are enjoying unparalleled success with The Book of Mormon on Broadway—are so heavily involved, though. Because if they weren’t, well, this wouldn’t be much of a story then, would it?

There’s an entire spread on the cover for this? This could be a tad more significant than South Park tower defense.

I’m not totally sure how this is going to work, but regardless, I’m looking forward to more details.

BTW, the game will be coming out on the PC as well. I’d love to know why you guys keep neglecting to mention the PC in your articles.

Because “PS3″ and “Xbox 360″ are made of many letters, and “PC” is only made of two, and I failed my reading comprehension test. I apologize for the oversight, and will fix the article IMMEDIAMENTE!!!!!

Good. I’d better not see this crap again.

Seriously though, thanks for fixing it. BOLD YELLOW TEXT.

This sounds like one of those ideas that should stay on Comedy Central’s website as a flash game.

Why couldn’t they spend this time on Fallout 4?

Because new vegas wasn’t as good as fallout 3, so bethesda probably didn’t let them do it, and were gonna handle that shit by themselves, but they had to finish skyrim first. fallout 4(or, more likely, fallout: subtitle) is probably under way.

Game sounds like it could be fun if done well, i like south park, so bring it on!
