No Minecraft in the IGAs? BLAWARAWAWRGH

I’ve seen a lot of surprised and confused comments at Minecraft’s complete omission from the Inside Gaming Awards this year. The reason for this is fairly direct – we considered it for awards last year. You might get mad at that for some valid reasons – the game wasn’t legitimately out at that point, after all.
The same arguments were brought up during deliberation of awards last year, and the compromise was that we would consider it for 2010 awards, but doing so would prohibit it from consideration in 2011. If it was up for awards again this year, that’d essentially allow it to double-dip, and set a scary precedent we want to avoid.
So there you have it. We still love Minecraft here at Machinima, but to be fair to everyone involved we’re not considering it for this year’s awards.

Lawrence, thank you for using logic and reasoning. It seems to have disappeared.
I’ll bathe in your praise but the decision wasn’t actually made by me. As I understand (and I could be wrong), Adam was the one pressing for the game to not be considered in the 2010 awards, and thus insisted that it not be in the 2011 awards.
Will it be considered after the official release….. Because that technically means that its the actual game not the beta or demo or whatever…. Thus could it be considered for 2012?
Minecraft is still a growing game, development is most likely no-where near over.
Nope. It had one shot for consideration and we used it up in 2010. To be fair, it won two awards that year, so it’s not like the game didn’t get its due.
First Deus Ex:HR,now Minecraft.Well,I guess you guys are still learning how to choose the exact right nominees for your awards.
It’s nice to see you back Lawrence, even though it’s for a short time ;)

Lookin back at what Minecraft was last year and what it is now. there is not much that changed. A few new blocks, a few new mechanics. turnig the game into World of Warcraft. But other than that.
