Activision’s Community Manager Robert Bowling went on the Call of Duty forum to discuss gamers’ questions about the PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, reports Eurogamer today. One of the main features of the PC version of the game that Bowling emphasizes is that of graphical customization. It’s no secret that all PCs are not created equal, so it’s reassuring to hear that a game-maker is taking care to ensure that everyone can play, no matter how much of a dinosaur their computer is. The post quotes Bowling on the subject:

“We do wide testing across all tiers of PC. In our office we have an old min spec machine that receives just as much care as our top tier PC. We’ve also engaged the hardware manufactures for wider compatibility testing for us to ensure an optimised bug free launch.”

According to Bowling, gamers can enable or disable rendering ffeatures like SSAO (Screen Space Ambient Occlusion), depth of field, shadows, and anti-aliasing, among others, says the post.

Bowling also discusses the game’s servers, and its integration with the Steam platform (something Battlefield 3 players may not find with EA’s rival game):

“The big feature for MW3 we are supporting is Dedicated Servers, this includes a server browser, voting, RCON, and more….we are embracing the Steam platform by integrating fully with Steam including friends list, Steam achievements.”

Finally, the post offers some information about how Activision will be trying to keep cheating to a minimum:

“Security is a major focus for Modern Warfare 3, especially coming out of Modern Warfare 2. We will be utilizing multiple methods of Anti-cheat and Security methods, including Steam’s VAC system, CEG, and our own propriety methods implemented to provide multiple layers of defense in keeping online multiplayer fun, fair, and secure for all players without limiting the control they expect on PC.”

That’s not all for MW3 news today, though. According to a press release published today, accessory maker Turtle Beach is shipping out deluxe, Modern Warfare 3 branded “Ear Force” headsets to retailers, which should be available to purchase on or before Tuesday, October 25. The headsets should be functional across all platforms (console and computo), says the press release.

Says the press release on the fancy features the headsets will offer:

“Among the many features, these new premium headsets will be distinguished by unique sets of audio presets designed specifically by the audio teams at developers Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games in order to provide the ultimate immersion into the cinematic world of Modern Warfare 3.”

I’ll admit it: I’m not totally sure what that means. Do you push a button and it makes sounds from the game? Or is it like one of those keychains you had when you were a kid, that makes different gun-noises when you push the buttons? Man. Those were the best.

Also: Ear Force is a really funny thing to name your bad ass headsets. I hope someone comes out with Nose Strike Team swimming plugs someday.

Even still, these things look pretty awesome. Be sure to check out Turtle Beach’s official website for details on the headsets, which come in four varieties, shown below in hi-res glory: Bravo, Charlie, Delta, and Foxtrot.

False Advertising? Maybe you just fail to grasp the concept of adverts entirely

Apparently you fail to grasp the concept of sarcasm entirely.

Ah just ignore him. He probably heard the word “False advertising” from his parents today and now thinks the term applies to every advert he sees.

No one can answer that question for you. Your processor plays little part in how well a game plays on a computer. What we WOULD need to know in order for us to answer that is what graphics card you use as well as how much RAM you have.

How much memory does this game take? Could I run it on a Windows 7 laptop?
