Screwed Up Arkham City DLC Codes—”Too Many Bat-Beers” a Likely Culprit

After I finished posting my stories yesterday, I drove out to Best Buy and picked up my copy of Batman: Arkham City, which I’d wisely preordered a few months ago. After getting home, I turned on my Xbox, installed the game, and downloaded the Catwoman and Robin DLC that came with my console—everything seemed to work fine, and later that day, I roamed the streets of Arkham City and punched bad guys in their faces.

But my tale of ease and happiness was apparently not a universal one: according to a post on Joystiq last night, some gamers have had issues with their DLC codes, ranging from game cases containing no DLC codes, multiple codes for one DLC, or sometimes even DLC cards that are missing the codes entirely.

Who could’ve done this? The Riddler? The Joker? Someone drinking too many beers over at the game-packaging facility? That’s my Bat-guess, chum. (Note: All speculation. Likely, no alcohol involved. I just wanted an excuse to post that image I made the other night. While I was drinking whiskey.)

The post links to Warner Brothers Interactive’s Twitter page, which says, “We are aware that some people did not receive the Catwoman code in their game. You will get to play as the sexy thief, stay tuned for update.” I’m not sure that’s totally reassuring, but it appears that the company’s working out methods of remuneration for those affected by the issue. Make sure to check the Twitter page often for forthcoming solutions.

Of course, during my playthrough, I’ve taken on the role of Catwoman twice now, so I’m sure anyone who wasn’t able to redeem their codes is gonna be kind of pissed at the prospect of having to play the game over again once it gets sorted out.

On the other hand, this game is fucking awesome. Maybe they’re the lucky ones, who get to have a good excuse for playing it over again right after they’re done…

Let us know if anyone reading this has experienced DLC problems with Arkham—we’d like to hear from you.

I pre-ordered the collectors edition from gamestop to get the Batman beyond skin. Instead I got two codes formy least favourite skin, the dark knight returns skin. I’m sorry but I do not want to play as the fat batman. Twice.

Hey, do you still happen to have your codes for the two skins that you don’t want? I have a Batman Beyond Code that I would be more than happen to swap with you if you are interested. Just send me an e-mail and let me know. As a show of good faith, I would even be willing to send you the Batman Beyond Code First and then you send me your code. Just send me an e-mail at Silverlanfire@hotmail.com if you still want Batman Beyond and still have your other codes.

Actually, let me revise what I said previously. Too many people are out there trying to trade and scam people so let me put it a better way. If you still don’t have your Batman Beyond Outfit, then send me an e-mail and let me know and I will give you my extra code for nothing in return. I had a similar situation in which I did not get the one I had really wanted either and I would give you my extra code for nothing in return just so that it isn’t wasted and at least feel good about helping a fellow gamer and fan of Arkham Asylum out. That being said, I would appreciate getting any skins other than the Batman Beyond which I already have. However I would not insist upon trading, and am willing to give you my code freely so you can enjoy it. At the same time though, I would not turn it down if you wanted to send one back my way. Just try to e-mail me soon. Thanks

Yeah, I had a Joker level code (challenge map I think) that for some reason doesn’t work. Everything else I had worked fine… more or less.

I dont have internet at my house so i took my harddrive over to a friends house who did have xbox live and dowlnloaded catwoman and the 1980s skin using my copy of the game and when i went home it said it was downloaded but wouldnt let me use either : ( help me!!!!

That’s because when you download anything from Xbox Live, the license gets tied to the actual xbox the content was downloaded from. If you want to be able to play offline, you need to connect your own xbox to the intenet and download it again. I think this is designed to stop people downloading something once and copying it to several machines.

As it is you can only use the DLC on your xbox while you’re signed in to Xbox Live. Sorry.

The “being able to play as catwoman only while logged into Xbox live” is a bunch of BS. Thank you WBs and Microsoft for once again gouging more money out of people. Now in order for anyone else on my Xbox to play the Catwoman DLC you are telling me I have to shell out an extra X amount of cash for Xbox live just so they can play the DLC for this game? Nice guys, really nice. I don’t understand how Microsoft allows people to modify other games likes MW3 with their aimbots and wallhacks on a multiplayer server, but doesn’t allow multiple profiles on one Xbox play this DLC. AND THE BEST PART IS IT IS A SINGLE PLAYER GAME!!!! I’m done preaching Xbox and these gaming companies. Maybe I will start again when these companies realize that their customers is their main source, and when they get their own heads surgically removed from their rectal cavities.
