Tim Cain, the programmer who was instrumental in the development of Fallout, has left Troika Studios for Obsidian Entertainment, a move first hinted at by his Facebook page. Since leaving Fallout developer Interplay many years ago, Cain co-founded Troika Games, who had created the horror-RPG Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. These are the things that Wikipedia tells me.

It’s not yet known what Cain will be working on at Obsidian Entertainment, but the company has a strong track record of \developing other company’s IPs, like Star Wars: Knights of the Old republic II, Fallout: New Vegas, and Neverwinter Nights 2 titles for PC and Mac, as well as developing Alpha Protocol, their first original intellectual property. The studio is currently working on games based on the Wheel of Time license, so my money’s on that one as far as where Cain will be put to work.

Of course, it’s entirely possible that Obsidian will be called upon to help develop another Fallout title, which would be right in Cain’s wheelhouse. STAY TUNED.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines was a really amazing game. Probably my favorite RPG of all time. I’m really stoked to hear that Tim Cain is gonna be helping Obsidian out. Maybe he can bring some Interplay Magic to the table.

They can’t make a new game because bethesda bought the rights to Fallout. That’s why bethesda made fallout 3 and the last game they allowed Obsidian to make was New Vegas.
Fallout 3 > New Vegas. I don’t care what anybody says.
