Gears 3 DLC Coming on November 1

Are you strapped in? Do you have your helmet on? Today, Epic Games published a press release announcing a November 1 release date and details about the first Gears of War 3 downloadable content, called the “Horde Command Pack.”

The pack will include three new maps, four new fortification upgrades, three new playable characters, and two new weapon skins. HOLY SHIT THAT’S A LOT OF STUFF. The thing costs 800 Microsoft Points, but if you bought the Gears of War 3 Season Pass for 2400 points, the DLC will have come at a 33 percent discount. The season pass is still available, so if you’re wondering whether or not you should take the plunge, you ought to figure it out sooner rather than later…

Maps

Blood Drive – The Jacinto Medical Plaza was overwhelmed by evacuated citizens after the government-sanctioned Hammer Strikes, and the ensuing riots quickly turned this safe haven into a dangerous inferno. An abundance of high ground and funneled choke points make this map a returning favorite to Horde.
Rustlung – Once the pride of the Royal Tyran Navy, the foredecks of this decommissioned battleship are now riddled with bullet holes. Any team with the fortitude to hold the exposed central torpedo bay will find that the ship’s Loader has been replaced with a battle-ready Silverback mech suit.
Azura – This island resort was once the exclusive domain of Sera’s educated elite, but the tranquil water gardens and lush foliage have become a hotly contested combat zone. Dual snipers overlook a powerful explosive weapon, while the defensive central platform may be your last resort of retreat.

Fortification Upgrades

Command Center – A brand new type of fortification that allows you to call in fire support from sniper teams, mortar strikes and even multiple Hammers of Dawn.
Decoy Upgrade – A new fortification level that turns your decoy into an Onyx Guard bot that will fight in your defense.
Sentry Upgrade – This upgrade adds a fire bolt sentry that deals much more damage and is very effective against Berserkers.
Silverback Upgrade – This advancement allows you to upgrade your Silverback exo-suit with devastating rockets and extra levels of repair cost reduction.

Seems pretty interesting as well as a good bargain. It’s free for people who’ve purchased the Season Pass (unlucky me), but after $40 worth of weapon skins released on day 1 & already DLC when the game has been out for less than two months, I get the vibe Epic is money hungry with their last Fenix baby.

  yea i thought the skins were awesome but once i saw they came with a price tag i thought the same thing. wow money hungry bi$%^s. i remember i bought all the map packs for gears2 then they came out with a bundle for a very discounted price. i was very pissed. well maybe they will do the same for this game. so either i wont buy anything or maybe many months later when everything is discounted.

        Nothing money hungry about it. But of course, if your fucking retarded enough to buy all of them, you deserve to lose 40 dollars. Its more of a pick a few(Or just one) you like, and buy those.
        
        Of course, the coolest one is the Liquid Metal, and that only comes with the Season pass.

This map pack looks beast and worth it!! I cant believe they brought blood drive back besides the fact it was a popular map in gears 2.

i hate this. they barely launched the game and a DLC its already comming out to take our money. they take fitures out of the game and put it in a DLC as if it wasn’t in the game already before they rip it off and sell you AGAIN

What’s wrong with you morons who condone this? ALL of this was on the disc; now they’re charging ten extra dollars for this trash. 3 New Maps?! Blood Drive is not new, any dumbass knows that, also the other 2 were shown in countless videos before the game’s release. Money-hungry is putting it lightly. These assholes are taking it to a whole new level.

Here’s the pro’s and cons for both sides:
Pro:
Adding some variety to the characters – Bernie and Onyx Guard are much welcomed
All the content was on the disc (Meaning no waiting on download)
Makes Insane Horde just that slightly easier
Blood Drive provides evidence for the return of praised past Gears maps ( I BEG YOU, BRING BACK FLOOD AND WAY STATION)

Con:
Charging for content that was removed from the game
Microsoft forcing Epic to charge for skins, even these DLC ones..
Team Plasma WAS a certain starter skin but was pulled a week before shipping due to it looking too good.. DON’T BLAME EPIC, BLAME MICROSOFT
Blood Drive – Most overplayed map of Gears of War 2..
Big Rig Dizzy.. Nope.
Still no sign of Guardian being brought back (stuck with stupid CTL)

Currently taking an economics class, I find it funny my transition between when I used to call most DLC decisions ‘MONEY HUNGRY FUCKTARDS DAMN YOU FOR TAKING MAI MONAY” to the understanding of a simple reasoning of supply and demand also self-interest.

Will any of the DLC be campaign add-ons/single player add-ons or will all of the DLC be multiplayer stuff only? Because I only care about the single player game.

Sounds like they had this pretty much done and ready and held it back from the release so they could sell it later. Seems they are taking the CoD approach to ripping off customers. Selling them what should have been included on the disc.

Can’t wait. Bernie is gonna be a sick addition. AND THE COMMAND POST!?!? WHAT!?!? DOPE!!!! I’m insanely excited for the horde stuff. I’ve maxed out all of my upgrades and it should be a lot more fun having more now. Also; We all know it was already a part of the game before they released it. But we ALL know that we’re still gonna buy it. They aren’t going to suddenly change their minds about it and give it to us for free. So quit your bitc*ing. Make like everyone else and just buy it, and have fun…

Anyone else notice how the Onyx Guard looks like a Cobra Commander knock off from G.I. Joe? A few minor wardrobe changes and BAM, say hello to the bad guy.

  You wont get the DLC probably Gamestops DLC is very exclusive and usually doesnt come out that’s why you should’ve got the beta :/

I understand the discontent of people who say that the first DLC content was already on the disc, etc.

However, if you get the Season Pass, you get 33% off of the combined DLCs (four total, I think). So, essentially, it’s like you’re getting the Nov. 1 DLC for free, plus an 8% combined discount on the remaining three.

That makes it a little better to swallow. :) Just gotta look at the bright side.

I look forward to the new additions, and like the fact that this game will stay relevant for a long time.

i bought the season pass and it was actually saving me alot. and there is a new dlc coming out december 13 for the campagin called RAAMs shadow
