This morning, DICE’s Tommy Rydling dropped some news on PlayStation 3 owners’ heads. Apparently, PS3 gamers will be able to have fun with Battlefield 3 downloadable content a whole week before it hits anywhere else (like, oh, I don’t know, the Xbox 360):

“You’ll be happy to know that beginning with our first expansion pack Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand (to be released later this year), all full-blown upcoming expansion packs for the game will appear one week early exclusively on PS3, brought to you by Sony!”

Normally I’d discuss how pissed off Xbox 360-proponents owners would be at this news, but I think they’re all too busy playing Gears of War 3 to notice right now. But I’ll ask them again in a few weeks.

Rydling went on to describe “Back to Karkand” with a bit more detail, for the few of you who might not have already read every single scrap of BF3 info that’s ever been made available:

Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand is a themed expansion pack containing four of the most loved maps from Battlefield 2, boldly reimagined in the Frostbite 2 engine. It also features new weapons and vehicles, unique in-game dog tags, new persistence, as well as new Trophies.”

So there you go. You win this round, Sony.
