Rumor: Timesplitters 4 Announcement Incoming?

Timesplitters is a shooting franchise that stands apart from modern shooters like Battlefield or Call of Duty. Symmetrical arenas, outlandish guns, bullet sponge players, Timesplitters is a bastion from mid-nineties shooters. That’s probably a reason why we haven’t seen a new addition to the franchise, as this version of FPS gaming can be a little dated. Hasn’t stopped fans from lamenting the six years since the last game, Timesplitters: Future Perfect.

Now, if we are to believe The Official PlayStation Magazine UK, Crytek UK (developer Free Radical Design went on to become Crytek UK) is gearing up to announce Timesplitters 4. To quote the magazine, “Gun-wielding monkeys are finally making a comeback! A fourth Timesplitters title is to be announced soon.” Considering E3 came and went with no news, and the fall and winter typically dies down with new game announcements, I wonder when this announcement could actually occur.
