Disney Buying Out Ignition Parent Company UTV

Disney is looking to buy out the rest of UTV, the parent company of Ignition Entertainment. Ignition is responsible for publishing El Shaddai among other titles like Blacklight: Tango Down and the cult hit Deadly Premonition. UTV is based in India and Disney currently owns about 50.4% of its shares. Once Disney buys the rest, they will acquire Ignition.
Disney is apparently interested in spreading its presence in India as well as gaming.
“Walt Disney has always been interested in most of UTV’s business, especially the gaming part,” said an analyst when asked about the situation.
With UTV bought out, the fate of Ignition will be in Disney’s hands. Hopefully we’ll see El Shaddai 2: Ascension of the Mickey-TRON. On the other hand, Disney has shut down core game companies Black Rock and Propaganda. Fingers crossed for the folks at Ignition.
