THQ closes its UK Studio

Publisher THQ has shut down it’s UK-based branch development studio, which was responsible for various titles, namely Juiced–a racing game that launched in 2005. Although it’s sad to see any developer close, there has been some good news. Ten people have been transferred over to Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team‘s development team for the PS3. Both Sony and Evolution have been offering contract work for others. Various team members have opened three start-up ventures.
Stu and Donna Jennett have formed a concept team called Alien Apple Studios while a studio called D3T has been formed by Jamie Campbell and Stephen Powell. Another unnamed named studio was formed by Don Whiteford and Ric Badger. However, studio Founder Colin Bell is taking time away from the games industry.
“I’ve definitely been proud to have been involved in setting up and running the studio and have no regrets. I’ve also been proud to work for THQ,” said Bell. “We’ve provided around 400 man years of employment over the last eight years and that is no mean feat.”
