SOE Announces PlanetSide 2

I wish there was the text equivalent of a crotch chop, because I’m doing it right now.

Sony Online Entertainment revealed PlanetSide 2 late last night, showing the first in-game footage and screenshots for the unexpected sequel.

If you’re confused by this PlanetSide business, you missed one of the coolest concepts in gaming (from 2003, no less). Like the original, PlanetSide 2 is an MMOFPS in which you participate in massive battles. Each of these battles decide control of zones in a huge world map. Your goal is to win the whole planet for your particular faction.

On top of that, your fighter will level up and unlock additional equipment and the ability to pilot new aircraft and vehicles.

Sounds sweet right? Unfortunately we don’t have many details about when the game will be out or how much it will cost, but it will be PC only.
