IO Interactive Announces Hitman: Absolution
embedded by Embedded Video
When this press release hit my inbox this morning, my first thought was “Didn’t they already do that?” As it turns out, all we’ve had is ARG teases and domain registrations, so this is the for real annoucement that announces… not a whole lot.
Sweet teaser though. Digging that music – sounds like Jesper Kyd may be back on the soundtrack. The end of the teaser also shows the date of 11/07/06, which is either the start of E3 (June 7), or a November 7, 2oo6 release date. Fitting that my time machine is in the shop this week.
The release does provide a vague glimpse of the game’s story, stating that Agent 47 has been betrayed and is now hunted by the police. Given that 47 typically kills people for a living, it’s not particularly surprising that he’s being hunted by the police.
We also learn that Hitman: Absolution is being powered by Glacier 2, which I can only assume is IO’s internal engine. See what I mean about not getting a lot of information?
We’ll have to wait until E3 (June 7-9) to see more. In the meantime, feel free to check out the official Hitman: Absolution website.
