Did you think publishers releasing one franchise game a year was bad? Welcome to the terrible future.

EA announced Need for Speed: The Run today, already declaring a release date of November 15, which is odd. This incarnation of NFS features a trans-continental race from San Francisco to New York. So basically this is Death Race 2000 the game:

Awesome movie. Do you hear that, Black Box? You guys have to meet or exceed the awesomeness of David Carradine in a spandex bodysuit and Magneto helmet. Pffft. Good luck.

Need for Speed: The Run will run on Frostbite 2, the engine developed by DICE that powered the Battlefield series before the upcoming Battlefield 3. It’s noteworthy that EA is now using in-house engines for new games. It shortens development time and saves royalties, which means they can put out twenty Need for Speed titles a month.

EA are Satan and NFS is dead.
