The Witcher is one of the best PC RPGs in recent memory, and its sequel, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is looking to be packed with even more awesome. As development has progressed on the PC version of the game, CD Projekt has been on-and-off in regards to whether or not The Witcher 2 would get a console release, which has both delighted console players and terrified PC players.
Luckily, CD Projekt senior producer, Thomasz Gop, has good news for both camps: console production of The Witcher 2 won’t begin until after the PC version is finished, which releases on May 17. So, PC players are getting an RPG that’s unadulterated by console development, and console players will eventually get an excellent RPG. What’s more, Gop said “I can already promise you that if we’re going to do this on consoles it’s not going to look like crap, definitely.” That’s because the team has already done preliminary testing to ensure that their PC behemoth would actually run on console hardware. With any luck, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners could see The Witcher 2 on their preferred device within a year or so.
