Seeing, and hearing, some gameplay of Operation Flashpoint: Red River helps put my nerves at ease a bit. The gameplay seems a tad closer to the hardcore simulation of the ArmA franchise and the robot voice of your character, however bizarre, is far preferable to the Deliverance impersonator from the last trailer.

On the PC side, we’ve got some system specs for you. Running this thing at max settings shouldn’t be an issue for most people:

  • OS: XP 32bit/Vista/Windows 7
  • Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Core 2 duo 2.4 Ghz
  • Memory: 1GB RAM (2GB Vista/Windows 7), 6GB free hard drive space
  • Video card: ATI Radeon X1800, NVIDIA GeForce 7800
  • Internet connection required for game activation. To play online, activate an online account using a product key. Limit one account per key.

Red River will be out on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on April 26.

This is how I see modern FPS games.I’ll have to thank the developers for bringing my vision up front so everyone can see how bland most cover based shooters are.

Isn’t this just BF2 Project Reality Mod?
