Panasonic Jungle Bites the Dust

Panasonic’s Jungle, the handheld designed for MMOs that no one but Panasonic believed would ever release…will never release. The company announced today that the project has been canceled.

Panasonic cites “changes in the market” (read 3DS and NGP) and in its own “strategic direction” (read terrified of Nintendo) as reasons for canceling the device.

Before the announcement, the jungle was already in public testing and Battlestar Galactica was in development for the platform. Given Panasonic’s previous luck with the 3DO and Panasonic Q, it’s surprising the company didn’t see this one coming.
