PSP Now $130, New Games in Discount Line
Sony announced today that the last not-retarded iteration of the PSP will now retail for $129.99 (that’s the PSP-3000). Dropping in accordance with the platform, PSP Entertainment Packs are now retailing for $159.99.
To help new PSP owners fill out their catalogue and do something with the handheld other than pirate games, Sony has also ushered several titles into their budget price bracket.
These games are now “Greatest Hits” ($19.99):
- Assassin’s Creed Bloodlines
- DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY
- LittleBigPlanet
- METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER
- Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
- Resistance: Retribution
- Toy Story 3: The Video Game
And these are “Favorites” ($9.99):
- CRISIS CORE-FINAL FANTASY VII
- Daxter
- Monster Hunter Freedom Unite
- Killzone: Liberation
- SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs: Fire Team Bravo
- Tomb Raider Anniversary
They also have a new ad campaign featuring a bunch of douchey pre-teens that need a good smack in the mouth, but you can look that up on your own if you really want to.
This is a good move on Sony’s part – it steams some thunder away from the impending launch of the 3DS, and is smartly targeting the audience that doesn’t make financial decisions. Teenagers and pre-teens generally are mercy of the whims of their parents when it comes to gaming, and those whims always tend to lower price tags.
