Gears of War 3 Beta Launches Mid-April

Those of you looking to whet your Gears of War whistle a little early are in luck. Today at Microsoft’s Showcase press event in San Francisco, Epic revealed that their previously-announced Gears 3 beta will launch on Xbox Live in mid-April. Pre-orderers of the “Epic Edition” of Bulletstorm will have early access.

The multiplayer beta will include three Versus modes and four maps. You can head over to the official Gears of War Facebook page and cast your vote on which classic Gears maps you’d like to see.

It’s also worth mentioning that the most image-conscious participants will be able to unlock a gold plated Lancer exclusively in the beta.

“If you play — right now, we’re still fiddling with the numbers — but right now we’re talking like 90 matches,” Epic’s Rod Fergusson said. “If you play 90 matches and get, say, 100 kills with [the Retro Lancer] weapon, [the gold version is] yours. There’s no other place to get it.”

It looks like there are emblems on the guns. maybe you can edit wat is on your gun?
