Rumor: Halo: Combat Evolved HD Remake Releasing This November
Joystiq doesn’t even cite those handy “anonymous sources” when revealing that an HD remake of the Xbox classic Halo: Combat Evolved will release on the Xbox 360 on November 15, 2011. This would be ten years to the day following the release of the original game (and the original Xbox for that matter).
According to the report, the remake will boast 1080p visuals, new art assets, new control options, and online-enabled play. Also 3D support for 3D televisions but who cares about that. The remake is reportedly developed by Saber Interactive, developers of Will Rock, Timeshift, and the unreleased Inversion.
The lack of any kind of source for this story is concerning, but the timing of this makes a lot of sense. Microsoft has no Halo product for this holiday, so an HD remake of the original would fill the void admirably. The convenience of hitting Halo’s ten-year anniversary is also a great supporting factor.
Of course, nothing is real until it’s announced, but a Halo remake feels right. As expected, Microsoft responded that they do not comment on rumors and speculation when reached for comment.
