A trailer accidentally popped up on the Internet this weekend before being yanked back like so many paddle balls. Now officially released for realsies, the trailer reveals the official release date for Rockstar’s L.A. Noire: May 17.

The trailer’s pretty sweet too, though I realized I have yet to see any actual gameplay from the game. Odds are it’s a Grand Theft Auto IV style third person action/adventure, but it’d be nice to see that for sure.

It’s worth noting that this project first showed up in two-thousand and goddamn four, and was long thought to be a Sony / PlayStation 3 exclusive. After Rockstar picked up publishing duties, the game turned multi-platform and will finally see game consoles the world over a mere seven years later.

I also get the feeling that this is going to contain R*’s signature open world formula. However the setting reminds of Mafia 2 and also unlike GTA IV and Mafia 2,this game has our protagonist working against crime, which is pretty interesting.I hope it turns out as well as the old detective movies we’ve seen.
Looks like this summer won’t be as boring as it usually is for gaming.
