Killzone 3 Open Beta Starting February 3

If our recent preview of Killzone 3 got you all hot and bothered, you’ll be able to check out the game for yourself very soon. Starting February 3, you’ll be able to download the Killzone 3 open beta for free from the PlayStation Store. The beta will include the ‘Frozen Dam’ map the three following modes:

• Guerrilla Warfare – Fancypants term for team deathmatch.
• Warzone – The same mode from Killzone 2. Teams participate in randomly ordered mini-missions.
• Operations – A new, more cinematic mode designed to be similar to the single player campaign. A linear set of missions task the ISA with destroying the dam while the Helghast try to protect it.

The beta also contains the “Botzone” mode which (you’ll never guess) lets you play any of the game’s modes against bots. The beta is scheduled to run until February 15, just shy of two weeks. A short run, but it should be good enough to collect all kinds of good balance fixes.
