If you’re already sold on the 3DS but concerned Nintendo may not keep up with demand, fear not! Nintendo President Satoru Iwata claimed that the company will have 4 million units to ship worldwide at launch, hopefully avoiding the fate of the original DS. And the Wii. And the Nintendo 64.

So say Iwata pulls through and you manage to grab one. Now what, you spend three weeks playing Mr. Driller like with the original? Apparently not, as Iwata is also claiming they’ve learned their lesson from the launches of the Wii and DS.

“It’s important that you be able to supply software with no pause,” Iwata said to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun newspaper. “With the DS and Wii, following the titles that were released at launch, the momentum dropped when there was a gap in software releases. We’re making plans so that this type of thing won’t happen.”

Looking at a release calendar for the system, it looks like Iwata isn’t talking guff.
