Ubisoft’s Michael Jackson Game Sells 2 Million Despite Quality

I guess the ghouls that are profiting from the death of Michael Jackson are celebrating today with the announcement that Michael Jackson: The Experience has sold over 2 million copies despite being a mediocre game. While only available for the Wii and handheld systems, numbers like these assure the upcoming Kinect and Move releases will get more fanfare.

While some critics enjoyed the game, many (including myself) thought it to be utter crap. Just Dance 2, the very popular Wii dance title, is better in every way than this game. Still, some folks love the King of Pop and will buy anything with his name on it. The Kinect and Move versions will be released on April 12th.

I still don’t think this means that anyone will play that weird Planet Michael MMO though.

Well, at least potentially on Kinect, maybe move, the dance controls will actually work.

Games like Just Dance and MJ: The Experience don’t even utilise the motion plus unit, so essentially, the game just reads vague movements. Not that I’m condoning these games at all, but the things people buy these days and are considered ‘videogames’ is beginning to get a little worrying.

Still, as long as they have fun, I suppose that’s all that really matters…
