Square Enix Announces Tomb Raider Trilogy for PlayStation 3

I know HD remakes are all the rage nowadays but this one is a little confusing. Despite being released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 already, the Tomb Raider Trilogy Pack will include, “newly remastered in HD quality,” Tomb Raider Anniversary, Tomb Raider Legend, and Tomb Raider Underworld. Given that all those games were released on the current generation of console hardware, and thus already in HD, I’m not sure how HD remastery will go. Maybe they’ll add more bloom.

The press release mercifully does not mention 3D, but does promise a Tomb Raider theme, Lara Croft / Viking Thrall Home outfit, and making-of documentaries for the series.

Releasing on March 22, 2011 for $39.99, the pack is a great way to experience the previous rebirth of the series before it is re-rebirthed with Tomb Raider in 2011.

Yeah I’m confused too.

  1. Only Underworld was released on the PS3! I know this is a late post but bloody hell do your research! Legend and Anniversary on the Xbox 360 weren’t really HD anyway, just the equivalent of high settings on the PC I believe.
