Following an accidental Gamestop listing and de-listing, the Gears of War Ultimate bundle has been confirmed by Microsoft, though its existence is all that’s confirmed.
We can confirm a forthcoming bundle SKU involving the Gears franchise, though this may not be the final SKU name,” a Microsoft Spokesperson said to IGN. “There are no specifics available at this time, except to say it will not involve Gears of War 3 or the beta.”
The listed price on the Gamestop website was a very reasonable $29.99, and smart money is on the bundle including all released DLC for both Gears of War and Gears of War 2. As for the release date, there’s some wiggle on that one. The Gamestop listing pegged it at February 15, but a Gamestop representative recently told CVG that the game would release on February 16. Games commonly launch on Tuesdays, so 15 is more likely.
The release window makes perfect sense too, with Gears of War 3 delayed to fall 2011. This will give those interested in the series plenty of time to catch up on the story of Marcus Fenix, and also chainsaw a lot of guys into meaty chunks.
