A Secret Wars Video Game?

Sharp eyes paying attention to the US Patent and Trademark Office noticed that Marvel has recently filed protection of its classic 80s crossover, Secret Wars. Covering everything from movies to games, could it be that Marvel is looking to revisit the Beyonder and once again pit its greatest heroes and villains against each other?

The story for Secret Wars is ripe for a video game. Take a selection of heroes from throughout the Marvel universe, throw them on a planet filled with weapons made by an omnipotent being, then fight! An open world game with has you fighting area to area, clearing out the planet and taking control of various new weapons along the way. You could play as good or evil, doesn’t matter.

In the comics, Secret Wars was also the event where Spider-Man got the black outfit, aka Venom. You could have an awesome story side mission where whichever hero or villain you are finds the Venom symbiote, and it bonds with them altering their powers for the rest of the game. An Iron Man symbiote would be badass. Dr. Doom could dominate.

Good possibilities. Hopefully, we’ll be hearing more about any possible project in 2011.
