Maybe it’s because I’m not Korean, but I just don’t understand Major League Gaming. I will never watch a MLG event, even though I’m a gamer. In fact, it’s because I’m a gamer that I won’t watch. I’d much rather be playing.

Others will watch, apparently, and MLG just announced that they got another $10 million in funding, raising their total funding to over $50 million. According to MLG, they reach 4.5 million people through their online site. 600,000 people watch their weekend Live streams of Pro Circuit gaming. That’s a lot of people tuning in, but the number isn’t broken down by game, demographics, or anything else.

While it may not be my cup of tea, I hope the MLG does well. Because if the MLG does well, than games do well, and that’s good for all of us gamers.

I attended MLG Dallas and it was a blast. I love watching professional gamers performing at peak skill.

    Also there were free Doritos.

Well, I suppose I can’t argue with the free Doritos. :)
