Bioware released a podcast announcing gold status for Mass Effect 2 for the PlayStation 3, meaning the game is now complete and ready for mass duplication. In the podcast, ME2 Producer Jesse Houston shared some interesting tidbits about the port of the game.
“One of the first things you’re going to see is improved graphics. We actually created the engine for Mass Effect 3 and used that to make Mass Effect 2 PS3,” Houston said. “So we took the content, the story and all of the other assets that made up Mass Effect 2 and we put it into the Mass Effect 3 engine.”
Houston also touted other improvements like control tweaks to suit the PlayStation 3 controller and changes to planet scanning. It may have taken a year to get there, but it’s even awesomer now, so hopefully that’s an even tradeoff for PlayStation 3 owners.
Mass Effect 2 will hit the PlayStation 3 on January 18.
