InstantAction, formerly Garage Games, announced today that they will be ceasing operations, closing their website, and looking for a buyer for their Torque game engine. Torquepowered.com will continue to operate (to facilitate the sales process, most likely).

InstantAction / Garage Games has had an interesting number of years since its founding in 2000. Marble Blast was the studio’s first major release, appearing on the Xbox Live Arcade in 2006 as Marble Blast Ultra. The company is also known for its Tribes-like browser game titled Fallen Empire: Legions.

The developers officially renamed themselves InstantAction to coincide with InstantAction.com in 2009 after Louis Castle became the new CEO for the company. InstantAction recently sold the Starseige: Tribes IP to Hi-Rez studios, which apparently didn’t net the company enough money to continue operations.
