EA Assumes All Publishing Duties for Star Wars: The Old Republic

Electronic Arts announced today that they’re taking over publishing duties from LucasArts for Star Wars: The Old Republic. Now, “all publishing, marketing and distribution responsibilities can be centralized for efficiency” while LucasArts will remain a “key partner” which really just sounds like “we still get a cut of the sales.”
EA has some experience publishing MMOs, launching both Warhammer Online and APB without the crippling server lag and growing pains common to most new MMOs. However, Lucasarts’ involvement in gaming keeps decreasing and decreasing. So sad. Star Wars: The Old Republic is expected in Q2 2011 for the PC.
