PS3 Sales Catching Up to 360

Though the Xbox 360 currently enjoys a lead in hardware sales, the most recent numbers show the PlayStation 3 is following closely behind – and the gap is shortening. In terms of total sales, the PS3 is sitting on 39.2 million units while the 360 hit 44.6 million. That’s a gap of 5.4 million units – and the PS3 is (for now at least) selling faster than the 360.
From July to September, Sony sold 3.5 million PS3s, while Microsoft moved 2.8 million 360s. Of course, these numbers hit just before each platform introduces their particular motion platforms. The Move could tip the scales in favor of the PlayStation 3, while Microsoft is banking big on the Kinect. Things are about to get interesting.

Waiting for the results of this holiday is like waiting for mass effect 3! Won’t buy any of this garbage, but would love to see how the casual’s react to three options of motion control.
