German gamers will get a big ol’ NEIN if they try to import the PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops from other EU regions to try and circumvent the game’s censorship. According to German site PC Games, the game will require Steam authorization to operate – and Steam will only authorize fully localized versions of the game.

The censorship is due to strict rules about depictions of history which commonly hits games dealing with World War II. While Black Ops takes place in the Vietnam era, apparently it still pressed the right buttons to require content alterations for the German market.

I bet that if you asked half of the people about what happened in MW2, they would draw blank; I know I did.

Oh Germany is still embarrassed by their own history? Censorship is never the answer
