TRON Evolution Multiplayer
A few weeks ago, I got my hands on the multiplayer for the upcoming movie tie-in, TRON Evolution. Besides fulfilling a few childhood dreams of getting to see a model in a skintight TRON outfit, I really enjoyed the various multiplayer modes. In fact, I found the multiplayer to be better than the single player experience.
Besides your standard Deathmatch, I played variations I’ll call Keep Away and a Node Control game. Keep Away has a timed bomb that you need to hold as long as possible. Node Control has you take over a series of checkpoints and defend them for a certain amount of time. Each map and variation had you square off against programs (players) of another glowing color. While similar to other multiplayer you’ve played before, you’ve never been able to frag an enemy with a neon frisbee.

In order to recharge your energy, you have to touch the energy pathways that run on the walls. There’s a lot of wall climbing and jumping in this game, giving it a real Prince of Persia vibe. Don’t underestimate the power of your frisbee, as power-ups to your disc creates anything from corruption to a giant explosion.
Also, on the larger maps, you can call up a light cycle at any time to get you around faster. The light trail follows you everywhere, leading to some interesting collisions. Sometimes, you can even find tanks which seemed amazingly dominant.
The muliplayer is a lot of fun, but all I really wanted to do was play Space Paranoids at Flynn’s Arcade.
TRON Evolution will be out this December.
