38 Studios broke from tradition by not moving to Montreal or Los Angeles. Downtown Providence, Rhode Island will be the new home for the studio named after Founder and Former Baseball Pitcher Curt Schilling’s jersey number.

“Providence offers a central location with a vibrant mix of office buildings, restaurants and entertainment venues, as well as a rich pool of talent from nearby universities,” 38 Studios CEO Jen MacLean said. “We are proud and excited to be making this move and believe our presence will be mutually beneficial to both 38 Studios and the city of Providence.

Hopefully this will start an amusing rivalry between the developer’s former residence of Maynard, Mass. and Rhode Island. Those states have been begging to go at it for years. 38 Studios is currently working on two projects based on the works of R.A. Salvatore.
