Gamestop Lists, Pulls Mortal Kombat: HD Arcade Kollection

Gamestop silently listed a game titled Mortal Kombat: HD Arcade Kollection recently, which has since been removed. Details from the listing put the game’s release at November 16, 2010, only for the PlayStation 3. While this game sounds simple at first glance, you have to wonder… exactly how would early Mortal Kombats even be updated to HD?
The game’s assets were digital representations of live actors – not something you can go back in and spit polish. This leaves two options: either the games would use hand-drawn or CG sprites in place of live actors, or they would re-shoot all the animation with new actors. Naturally, the second option is the better one, so hopefully this game both exists and is shooting new actors right now.
Mortal Kombat, on the other hand, is a franchise reboot due out in the first half of 2011 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
