Ninja Theory Developing DmC, Devil May Cry Reboot

Increasingly prolific indie developers Ninja Theory have now partnered with Capcom to develop the next Devil May Cry. Currently titled DmC according to a trailer released at Tokyo Game Show today, the reboot features a new short-haired Dante that just might be suffering mad delusions in which he’s fighting demons. At least, that’s one way to interpret the vague trailer. If nothing else, the trailer focuses on the over the top gun-and-sword acrobatics the series is known for.
Even more surprising, this is yet another business relationship for the burgeoning British developer. The developer has moved from Xbox exclusive Kung Fu Chaos under Microsoft Game Studios, to the PlayStation 3 exclusive Heavenly Sword published by Sony, and most recently Enslaved: Odyssey to the West published by Namco Bandai. Partnering with Capcom not only increases their already-broad slate of business relationships, but is yet another step in Capcom’s attempts at Westernizing their game development.
Ninja Theory didn’t provide a projected release date or platforms, and given that the trailer showed no gameplay, the game is probably at least a year off.
