No New Geometry Wars For a While

Though it started out as a debug utility, Bizarre Creation’s breakout shmup Geometry Wars will be taking a little break. According to Bizarre Level Designer Peter Collier, though Bizarre Creations is aware of the desire for another game in the series, they don’t want to wear the series out.
“It’s just a great thing having titles that people love, that they associate with our studio – and Geometry Wars is one of them. It’s very close to a lot of fans’ hearts. I guess it’s just one of those things, that it’s a great and very proud feeling having something that the fans adore so much, but we don’t want to over-saturate it by carrying on with it,” Collier said. “It’s may be something that we keep as something we love, and move on to other things, you know?”
When pressed for a more definite comment about the series, Collier provided the PR-friendly response.
“There’s nothing on the current horizon, but we can’t rule anything out,” Collier said.
So don’t count on a Bond-themed Geometry Wars hidden away in Bizarre’s upcoming Blood Stone, due out this November. I have to say, it’s damned refreshing to see a developer consciously not working on a safe bet like a popular sequel. That’s ballsy.
