Final Fantasy XIV Open Beta in Early September

A tweet from the official Final Fantasy XIV account succinctly states (as tweets tend to do) that the MMO will enter open beta in early September, and that the current phase of beta testing ends tomorrow (August 25). Even though it’s a beta, and this is the wrong way to think about it, anyone who’s potentially interested in the MMO can use this as an opportunity to check it out before dropping $50 bones on the game. Will it be as mind-numblingly hardcore as the original? How long will it take for terrible Miqo’te fanart to pop up on Deviant Art (it probably already is)? These questions and more will soon be answered when the game releases for real on September 30, 2010 for the PC and March 2011 for the PlayStation 3.
