Arkham City Teased in Secret Arkham Asylum Room

Can you believe that in our modern age of YouTubes and Forums that an any secret in any game would stay hidden for more than a few days? The folks at Rocksteady hid Quincy Sharp’s secret room so well that nobody found it, and the developers eventually spilled the beans themselves. Given that you have to lay down three explosive gels on an innocuous bit of wall to find the hidden room, I’m not entirely surprised that the secret stayed as such.
“The room obviously ties into Arkham City, but to be fair, we hid it pretty well. We did assume that it would be found eventually and after following forum posts for 6 months or so, decided to announce it in the ‘Game of the Year’ podcast,” Lead Narrative Designer Paul Crocker said. “The fans of the game have been amazing and again, reading the forums, we can see how much they value the efforts we have put into creating the background stories for the various characters and it was great to see all the posts and theories about the secret room once it was discovered.”
It’s rare that devs have the time or the desire to put in little hooks about their universe in games anymore, so it’s remarkably cool that Rocksteady took that extra effort. Batman: Arkham City is on track for a fall 2011 release on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
