After a long tenure on Halo, Bungie is finally ready to sign off on the series with Halo: Reach. Not one to let a good cash cow die, Microsoft is handing the property to 343 Industries. Despite handing its most dear creation to a new parent, the folks at Bungie aren’t too concerned about the future of the Halo series.

“Everyone’s always pushing to do the best possible work so, we welcome to see what’s next for the Halo Series, but we’re not going to be losing any sleep over it, and it’s not going to influence how we approach our future projects,” Bungie Community Director Brian Jarrard said. “We already have some great ideas and we’re going to make the games we want to play.”

This mentality is due to internal competition, as opposed to comparing to other development studios.

“…no one at Bungie really spends too much time thinking about the competitive landscape, period,” Jarrard said. “Even back through Halo 2, Halo 3, that competitive nature came from within, it was about trying to improve ourselves from our prior title, and trying to not let down the people that you’re sitting around.”

Halo: Reach is coming to the Xbox 360 on September 14, so it’ll be interesting to see how Bungie ends their tenure in the Halo universe.
